About Sarah's Emotion Freedom Techniques (EFT) Journey

It’s been a while (a very long while) since my last blog post. Lockdown has proved to be very difficult for so many of us and I’ve been working flat out with clients, generally working six-day weeks with long days. A few weeks ago, I decided that I need to take a breather and give myself the advice that I give my clients constantly, which was to reset and be my own best friend. Being an Emotional Freedom Practitioner is such a rewarding job and I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to meet such beautiful sensitive souls and I love the feedback I receive from my clients. I often don’t  get the time to share it on Instagram or Facebook. So, each week I will share a client’s story and journey with you which will hopefully help people to see how remarkable EFT is and the different types of issues it can help, what obstacle’s are in the way and how I treat each individual case. Keeping everything strictly confidential of course and always with my client’s consent. Names dates and any other sensitive information will be changed to protect my client’s identity.

This week let’s talk about Sarah..

Sarah started therapy with me in November 2020. She originally had weekly sessions with me and then moved to bi-weekly when she felt more in control of her emotions. Sarah said she had times when she just felt low but didn’t really know why. This is what many of my clients say to me initially. After discussing Sarah’s childhood, it was apparent to me that the issues she had were the result of years of abandonment, first from her mother than later in life her biological father. She had suffered the loss of a parent at 14 after caring for them with a debilitating illness for previous years and after that point, predominantly had to bring herself up. She felt rejected and alone and engaged in unhealthy relationships with older men. No-one was there to guide her; she was grieving and due to having no healthy role models growing up did not know how to act or behave in a healthy way and by her own admission had mirrored her parents volatile and chaotic behaviours in her own relationships. Sarah said she was often very angry and anxious and had heavy feelings of resentment.

Sarah has a lovely life, she has a wonderful career, a healthy child and a loving, supportive husband yet constantly felt that something was missing, occasionally seeking outside approval and engaging in unhealthy patterns of behaviour. Through clearing her trauma using different EFT techniques she feels happy and safe and realises that throughout her life she has attracted chaotic and traumatic situations. We have worked on her boundaries, her expectations and her feelings of not deserving her current happiness. Sarah and I tapped on all of the traumatic memories that she held, we addressed the unresolved grief and cleared all of the anger and resentment. We addressed the rejection and abandonment issues and did some work on her belief system.

Despite her own upbringing, Sarah is an amazing mother and has built strong foundations and a safe loving environment for her child to grow and feel safe. I am super proud of her and feel blessed that she chose me to assist her on her journey to emotional freedom... Thank you Sarah x

This is what Sarah has to say about EFT and her journey

Therapy with Rebecca has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I tried counselling, types of CBT, and various wellbeing courses but it wasn’t helping me to make lasting positive changes to my mood. Rebecca was able to explore areas of my childhood and current life to identify what was making me feel low and what caused me to engage in unhealthy behaviours. I had emotions and trauma in areas I thought I had dealt with but were unconsciously affecting my life. Through Rebecca’s empathetic and down-to-earth nature, I have found it so easy to open up about things that I struggled to discuss or felt embarrassed by. Rebecca tailors the therapy sessions to what she knows I need at that particular point and uses a range of therapeutic techniques (including personalised guided tapping) and through this I have learnt so much about myself. I’d recommend Rebecca to anyone from those who feel low or anxious and are unsure why to those who have experienced severe trauma or mental health difficulties. Thank you for all your help, Rebecca!
